Two Shots...

It took two shots to capture the essence of Alan's personality.  He smiled for me on the second shot.  I used two Quantum 5D's shot into umbrellas and a Canon 580EX bounced off the ceiling as a background and hair light for this shot.  I metered each umbrella separately and then metered them together and decided on iso 400, 1/80th of a second at f.6.3.  The exposure was dead on when put it into Lightroom and printed really well.

Restoration

How long do you think it took me to restore this 1917 wedding photograph that was emailed to me as a rather small file?

To Flash or Not To Flash....

The museum doesn't allow flash photography.  Technology gives us the ability to shoot at a high iso.  I'm just not used to the "soft" look of available light.  However, I do think the shot works...

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE

There was no way to make this bouquet look like it belonged in any of my pictures at this wedding.  I think brides look at too many magazines when planning their wedding.  I remember at the time thinking that this bouquet would have worked better as a chest protector for a baseball catcher or umpire.
Choosing images for the new www.tallisphoto.com website took a bunch of time but turned out to be a lot of enjoyment.  Seeing clients and assignment that hadn't been seen in a while reminded that the success of our business was built one assignment and recommendation at a time.  This unformal-formal family photo shows my candid yet comfortable style of posing.
